How Isadore Sharp Inspired My Hospitality Vision
For me, Jeff Gillis, creator of the Winelikes App, the answer to “If you could have dinner with anyone, dead or alive, who would it be?” is simple — Isadore Sharp, the visionary founder of Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts. His story has always been my greatest hospitality inspiration.
Sharp has been my idol ever since I discovered my passion for hospitality. 
His belief that genuine service is about more than luxury — it’s about treating every guest and every employee like family — changed how I saw the industry from the start. His focus on service, his eye for design, and his constant drive for innovation showed me that hospitality isn’t just a business. It’s a way of life.
Lessons from the Four Seasons Philosophy
I’ve been fortunate to work in five-star hotels and resorts where service and detail mattered most. Yet what stood out wasn’t only the polish of fine dining or the sparkle of luxury suites. It 
was the culture of care, creativity, and connection that leaders like Sharp built into every experience. That energy made hospitality feel fun, inspiring, and deeply human.
Bringing Heart into Winelikes
That same philosophy drives me today as I teach hospitality at a local community college and as I build and promote the Winelikes App. When I created Winelikes, I wanted it to feel like more than just a platform about wine. I wanted it to feel like a community — a place where every user feels welcomed, included, and valued.
Most wine apps or social media platforms leave you scrolling without connection.
